Ocean Park is a long sand beach in San Juan, Puerto Rico, with Punta Las Marías, home spot of the island’s windsurf federation, just to the east. Kite Puerto Rico, an IKO school located directly on the beach, has taught since 2010, and says riders come to Ocean Park for its warm water, reliable trade winds and easy access from San Juan.
It teaches kite, wing foil and e-foil here, and hires kit to riders who can already ride on their own. The federation calls Ocean Park a lively, social beach, where many kiters and wing foilers gather by the Numero Uno guest house.
WindChaser’s record here is a 9 km model corrected by month and hour against the CariCOOS buoy offshore of San Juan, 4.3 km out, which reads the trade wind well above the uncorrected model.
79% of days clear 12 kt for three daylight hours or more.
In February the wind most often sits at 12 to 15 kt (37% of daylight hours) and is over 12 kt from 10am to 6pm on at least half the days. See both charts in the full report
