Torbole sits at the northern tip of Lake Garda, where the lake runs into the mountains of Trentino. The wind here runs on a daily rhythm: the tourist board describes the Pelèr blowing from the north from the small hours until about noon, and the Ora from the south from around noon until sunset. Vasco Renna has run a windsurf centre on this shore since 1975, and several centres work along the lakefront today.
The record, from a 1.5 km weather model grid, counts fewer windy days than that rhythm suggests. April is its windiest month, at a third of days clearing 12 knots for three daylight hours or more; from May to August it counts between about one day in eight and one in six, and the mean over those rideable hours sits between 13 and 14 knots. It sees the afternoon Ora, strongest in the early to mid afternoon, and barely registers the dawn Pelèr. The tourist board says the Ora blows most strongly in high summer and is very weak in winter. Treat the record as a cautious guide here until a station check ships.
The water is cold outside summer: DPC gives around 4°C in spring and 21°C in summer.
ERA5 puts the share of rideable days 12.5 points lower here, and no weather station has settled it, so treat these figures as a guide.
