Dakhla is a town on the Atlantic coast, beside a lagoon with about 45 km of flat water. The kite centres line the lagoon shore: KBC gives its address as Point de Dragon, PK 28, about 40 minutes from the airport. The wind is the north to north-east trade, which ION Club describes as sideshore from the left inside the lagoon.
It blows all year. Every month in the record has at least seven days in ten clearing 12 knots for three daylight hours or more, and May to September is the peak, at around nine in ten, with July the pick at 95 per cent. The mean over those rideable hours sits between 17 and 18 knots. Mornings already blow on about three days in four; the share climbs to around nine in ten by late afternoon. November is the quietest month and still clears seven days in ten. Summer here is properly lit.
Oum Lamboiur, about 30 minutes from the lagoon, is the Atlantic wave spot, with waves and choppy water.
