The sources give no tide detail for this launch. Which state suits which level is unknown until tide data arrives.

Tide data not yet available for this spot. The record holds wind, air and waves, not tide. Until a tide source is connected, the tables above stay empty rather than estimated. What the guide says about tide is on the next page, in words.

Town-end rocks, gusts & swell

Every hazard on the spot page, repeated here in full. Read this before you get wet.

Conditions change. Check local rules and conditions before you ride.

Blue Flag beach zonesEssaouira beach holds a Blue Flag for the 2026 summer season. The Blue Flag criteria require swimmers to be kept apart from craft under sail, with zones marked by buoys, beacons or signs where necessary, shown on the Blue Flag information board and enforced by the relevant authority or designated persons, such as lifeguards. Bathing areas patrolled by lifeguards must be clearly marked out. Read the board, keep out of the marked bathing areas and ask a school where to launch.
Rocks and gusts at the town endNear the town end of the bay there are hidden large rocks in the water, and the wind is gusty where it comes over the town. Avoid kitesurfing near the town end.
Strong summer afternoonsThe wind is light in the morning and, mainly in summer, often strong in the afternoon, up to 30 kt. Rig for the afternoon, not the morning reading, and size down when it builds.
Cold waterThe water runs roughly 15 to 20°C through the year. Wear a wetsuit in every month.
Horses and camels on the sandHorse and camel rides and busy schools use the beach. Set up your kit out of their way and keep your lines clear of them when you launch and land.
Rocks at the town end

The main beach in front of the schools is sand. Near the town end of the bay there are hidden large rocks in the water. Avoid kitesurfing near the town end. The rocks are described by one rider guide, not surveyed.

Gusts off the town, and the swell

At the town end the wind comes over the buildings in gusts. The islands off the bay hold back the big Atlantic swell, but small waves still break further out, larger in spring and autumn than in summer.

Sources, and their limits

Where each section of this report comes from. Record is measured. Modelled is computed by a formula because no measurement exists yet; it looks like data and is not. Written is WindChaser's editorial copy, compiled from the sources below.

§WhatSourceLimit
01Kite month sharesRecordCounted at 12 kt for three daylight hours from icon_eu at 7 km, cell 1.31 km from the spot, no correction.
01Windsurf and Wing month sharesRecordCounted at 13 kt (Windsurf) and 12 kt (Wing) from the same series, by the same rule as the Kite share. No longer the Kite share raised to a curve (WC-024 phase 4).
01Speed bands, hour-of-day sharesRecordCounted from the same hourly series as the shares: daylight hours in each 4 kt band, and the share of days over the threshold at each hour from 8am to 6pm. The same charts as the spot page.
01Direction, strength, when it blowsWrittenDirection agrees with the record (N to NNE, May to August). Strength and timing are the schools’ and guides’ reading, not measured.
02The month’s recordsRecordMonth detail. DWD ICON-EU at 7 km, the cell 1.3 km from the spot; gusts on the sand can exceed it. October to April has no single prevailing direction.
03Stays, schools and kitWrittenChecked on each business’s own website or a named rider source, most recently on 27 September 2026. Price bands only where a price is published.
04Tide windowsMissingNo tide source in the pipeline. The section renders its empty state.
05Hazards, rocks, gustsWrittenZoning from the Blue Flag criteria, not a local bylaw. Rocks and gusts from one rider guide (The Kite Spot). Locations described, not surveyed.
06Airports, access, packing, kite sizesWrittenSizes derived from the season range, not a fitted quiver. Water temperature from the record (15 to 20°C); wetsuit thicknesses from a school page.
MapsMissingNo hand-drawn maps and no surveyed launch coordinates for this spot.

The record

Hourly wind, 2022 to 2026, from DWD ICON-EU via Open-Meteo: a 7 km grid, read at the cell 1.3 km from the spot. It knows the wind over the cell, not the gust on the sand in front of you, and it knows the bearing, not the coastline: "side-onshore" is a rider's reading of the bearing. Each month is counted over three to four years.

What we could not source for Essaouira

A local bylaw or municipal order on where kites may launch. The season dates of the Blue Flag lifeguard cover. Tide tables. Windsurf and wing thresholds run through the hourly record. Surveyed coordinates for the launch and the rocks. Where any of these is missing above, the section says so rather than filling itself.

Conditions change. Check local rules and conditions before you ride.
