Low—Mid—High—

A 50 m walk to the water at high tide and 140 m at low tide. Hours per tide state unknown until tide data arrives.

Speed Spot
Low—Mid—High—

Flattest water at low tide, per spot guides. KBC goes there only at low tide in a north wind.

White Dune
Low—Mid—High—

At high tide the area becomes an island, reached from the ION Club centre by kite or wing. At low tide only kitesurfers can cross the sandbanks; ION Club also runs daily 4x4 departures.

Oum Lamboiur
Low—Mid—High—

No tide information from a source used here.

Tide data not yet available for this spot. The record holds wind, air and waves, not tide. Until a tide source is connected, the tables above stay empty rather than estimated. What the guide says about tide is on the next page, in words.

Offshore wind, tide & the Atlantic side

Every hazard on the spot page, repeated here in full. Read this before you get wet.

Conditions change. Check local rules and conditions before you ride.

Offshore wind at the Speed SpotSpot guides describe the wind at the Speed Spot as offshore, with the flattest water at low tide. KBC says the area is not a standing area and its rescue boat does not operate there. It takes riders there only at low tide in a north wind, at VDWS Level 5 or above, with self-rescue.
Tide in the lagoonION Club says the lagoon in front of its centre is glassy and shallow at low tide and deeper, with chop, at high tide. At high tide the White Dune area becomes an island: ION Club says riders can reach it directly from its centre by kite or wing, and at low tide only kitesurfers can cross the sandbanks. KBC runs its White Dune downwind only at high tide, without its rescue boat. Check the tide before you ride.
Drifting and fatigueBlu Boarding says most schools run rescue boats every day and drifting riders are quickly identified and assisted. It advises riding in known zones, especially early in a trip, and not pushing conditions when tired.
The Atlantic sideOum Lamboiur is open Atlantic, with waves and choppy water. ION Club warns of rocks as you approach the point and calls it a spot for advanced riders.

Sources, and their limits

Where each section of this report comes from. Record is measured. Modelled is computed by a formula because no measurement exists yet; it looks like data and is not. Written is WindChaser's editorial copy, compiled from the sources below.

§WhatSourceLimit
01Kite month sharesRecordCounted at 12 kt for three daylight hours from ecmwf_ifs at 9 km, cell 4.58 km from the spot, January 2017 to September 2026, 9 to 10 years a month, no station correction.
01Windsurf and Wing month sharesRecordCounted at 13 kt (Windsurf) and 12 kt (Wing) from the same series, by the same rule as the Kite share.

The record

Hourly wind, 2017 to 2026, from ECMWF IFS HRES via Open-Meteo: a 9 km grid, read at the cell 4.6 km from the spot. It knows the wind over the cell, not the gust on the sand in front of you, and it knows the bearing, not the coastline: "side-onshore" is a rider's reading of the bearing. Each month is counted over nine to ten years.

What we could not source for Dakhla

A counted crowd reading: the crowd rows are compiled research. Emergency numbers from an official source. A water quality classification, and a first-hand reading of the local vibe. Tide tables and per-launch tide windows. A station check on the wind record. Surveyed launch coordinates. A measured water temperature. Licensed photographs. Where any of these is missing above, the section says so rather than filling itself.

Conditions change. Check local rules and conditions before you ride.
