Shallows, weed & the kite zone

Every hazard on the spot page, repeated here in full. Read this before you get wet.

Conditions change. Check local rules and conditions before you ride.

Shallows and seaweedSURF magazine warns of shallow areas and a carpet of seaweed in the bay. Both can catch a fin or a foil. Check the depth before riding a foil close to the shore.
Kite zoneSURF magazine puts kitesurfers at the south-eastern end of the bay, apart from windsurfers and wing foilers, and Sunsurf says they have their own zone. No written order for the zone has been read. A spot guide says the entrance is narrow and rocky, and launching and landing need an assistant.
Busy waterMany schools share the beach and the water in front of the centres, with students on the water. SURF magazine also warns of boat traffic in the yacht fairway. Keep a lookout.
EmergenciesIn an emergency call 112. The coast guard line, 158, is joined into 112.
Shallows, weed and the kite entrance

The bay is shallow, with a standing area that SURF magazine puts at about 500 metres and a carpet of seaweed in places. Both can catch a fin or a foil. A spot guide describes the entrance to the kite zone at the south-eastern end as narrow and rocky.

Zones, schools and the marina

SURF magazine puts kitesurfers at the south-eastern end of the bay, apart from windsurfers and wing foilers, and Sunsurf says they have their own zone. No written order for the zones has been read. Many schools share the water in front of the centres. SURF magazine says the old fishing harbour is now a marina, and warns of boat traffic in the yacht fairway.

Sources, and their limits

Where each section of this report comes from. Record is measured. Modelled is computed by a formula because no measurement exists yet; it looks like data and is not. Written is WindChaser's editorial copy, compiled from the sources below.

§WhatSourceLimit
01Kite month sharesRecordCounted at 12 kt for three daylight hours from icon_eu at 7 km, cell 0.9 km from the spot, December 2022 to September 2026, 3 to 4 years a month, no station correction.
01Windsurf and Wing month sharesRecordCounted at 13 kt (Windsurf) and 12 kt (Wing) from the same series, by the same rule as the Kite share.
01Direction, strength, when it blowsWrittenDirection from SURF magazine and spot guides. Strength and time of day read from the record.
02The month’s recordsRecordThree to four years a month from a 7 km model, not a station. Treat the shares as a guide until a station check ships.
03Stays, schools and kitWrittenConfirmed on each business’s own website, the stays added on 30 September 2026 also on Google. No price band on a listing: none of them publishes a price. The cost tier rests on sportif.travel’s published Alaçatı rental and lesson prices.
04Tide windowsMissingNo tide source in the pipeline. The section renders its empty state.
05Hazards, shallows and zonesWrittenFrom SURF magazine, spot guides and a school, not surveyed. No written order for the zones read. The emergency number from the Ministry of Interior.
06Airports, access, packing, kite sizesWrittenRoad distance from a routing engine. Water temperature from SURF magazine, not measured. Sizes derived from the session mean.
MapsMissingNo drawn maps for this spot. No surveyed coordinates for the launches.

The record

Hourly wind, 2022 to 2026, from DWD ICON-EU via Open-Meteo: a 7 km grid, read at the cell 0.9 km from the spot. It knows the wind over the cell, not the gust on the sand in front of you, and it knows the bearing, not the coastline: "side-onshore" is a rider's reading of the bearing. Each month is counted over three to four years.

What we could not source for Alaçatı

A written order for the kite zone and the bay. A counted crowd reading by month (only SURF magazine’s note that July and August are usually quite full), a water quality classification and a first-hand reading of the local vibe. Tide tables and per-launch tide windows. A station check on the wind record. Surveyed launch coordinates and the kite zone’s position. A confirmed webcam. Licensed guide photographs. Where any of these is missing above, the section says so rather than filling itself.

Conditions change. Check local rules and conditions before you ride.
